I learned to slow down the hard way
Burnout at thirty-one, a job I could not put down, and a body that eventually said no on my behalf.
I am not a naturally calm person and I am not especially flexible. I am someone who needed this badly enough to go and learn it properly, and who then discovered she liked teaching it more than doing it.

How I teach
Nobody gets adjusted without being asked first. Nobody gets told they are doing it wrong. Every posture is offered three ways and you take the one your body wants that day.
I will not tell you yoga fixes everything. It did not fix my job — I left that. What it gave me was twenty minutes a day where I was not being useful to anybody, and that turned out to be the thing I was missing.
“Real, constant, everyday practice. Not impossible postures.”
How the shala got here
2011
The year it stopped working
A job I could not put down, a body that started sending letters I ignored, and a doctor who eventually wrote the word burnout on a piece of paper.
2013
Rishikesh
Two hundred hours, a shared room, and the first time in a decade I sat still on purpose. I went for the certificate. I came back with something else.
2014
A room above a bakery
Six students, four of them family. We practised on borrowed mats and the room smelled of bread every morning.
2019
Calle de la Plaza
Two rooms, sixteen mats, and a lease I could not really afford. Marta joined to teach Yoguilates and prenatal.
2021
The year everything moved online
I filmed thirty classes in an empty shala because there was nothing else to do. People kept watching after we reopened, which surprised me.
2026
Ninety classes and counting
The library is now the reason half our members joined. The shala is still the reason they stay.
